Q: Does CLS Vari-Zeo really remove all Cls in a given application?
A: Yes, CLS Vari-Zeo is designed and produced to remove 100% of all HCl, as well as all species of RCl.
Q: Does CLS Vari-Zeo produce any Green Oils?
A: No, Green Oils are a byproduct of a transformation process. This occurs only over an alumina bed.
Q: Is your material a molecular sieve?
A: No,Vari-Zeo is part of the sieve family, however, the pore size on a molecular level is variable in size, thus allowing for the retention of all sizes of Cl molecules.
Q: Will your material leech Cls?
A: No, once the Cl molecules have become part of the tecto-silicate structure, they cannot be released. This design will allow the materials to be steamed or water washed without the fear of losing the adsorbed Cls.
Q: How big is the Mass Transfer Zone?
A: We design the material to sustain a 8-12% MTZ. This benefit is two fold: 1) A small MTZ will be able to handle a larger Cl spike, and 2) when breakthrough occurs, 88-92% of the bed has been fully saturated. As a reference, average Molecule Sieve MTZ=25-35%, average Activated Alumina MTZ=50-65%, average Mixed Metal Oxide MTZ=100% (Lead/Lag required).
Q: What is the average Delta P?
A: Our systems are designed to experience no more than 3psig across the bed.
Q: Does CLS provide onsite support?
A: Yes, CLS will come onsite approximately once every quarter to perform a Cl survey. During these visits, we will conduct online testing of the reformer Cls, a bed performance evaluation, and answer any questions.
Q: Can CLS test for Organic Cls (RCl)?
A: Yes, CLS has developed a proprietary testing rig which we bring onsite during our Cl surveys. This rig gives us the ability to easily test for all species of Cls.
Q: Can CLS Vari-Zeo be steamed for discharge?
A: Yes, our systems are manufactured to withstand steaming and/or water washing. The benefits of steaming rather than nitrogen purging are quite evident. 1) Cost: Steaming with refinery utility steam is free. A hot nitrogen truck is expensive. 2) Our systems can be purged with steam in a matter of 2 days. Hot nitrogen on an alumina bed usually takes 2-3 weeks.
Q: Is CLS Vari-Zeo hazardous at discharge?
A: No, our systems are non-hazardous for benzene and are not a risk for Cl leeching. This material can be disposed of with your standard industrial waste.
Q; Does CLS provide spent sample analysis?
A: Yes, CLS will take back samples of spent material and do a full lab analysis. This will tell us exactly what occurred during the cycle length. We can test for specific Cl species, Cl retention, detect any foulants or contaminants, and model the profile of the bed. This is crucial for maintaining an effective Cl Treater.
