This application is around the catalytic reformer (CCR) in oil refineries. HCl, λ-RCl and β-RCl are taken out from reformer H2 gas and reformate liquid. CLS Industrial Purification produces zeolite-based absorbents that can remove all Cl species without forming green oils and RCl.
Through kinetic modelling of Cl treaters, CLS Industrial Purification can accurately predict cycle lengths, given differing contaminant levels. Accurate measurement of RCl in H2 gas can be performed via onsite Cl survey, leading to accurate Cl balance around the CCR.
CLS has enabled, through its Contaminant Monitoring Program (CMP), the management of chlorides whereby HCl and RCl are accurately tracked around the catalytic reformer circuit. The resulting Cl balance is real and demonstrates the effect of Cl removal, by species, in each part of the reformer circuit.
The latter, in chloride management, is now treated as one system with each Cl treater being an effective operating part of that system. For the first time oil refiners are able to plan and implement one overall Chloride removal strategy for their reformer circuit.
CLS Vari Zeo technology performs contaminant (species of Cl, S and Hg) removal via an engineered zeolite lattice over 90% of which is internal to the absorbent particle. Stepping away from amorphous and bulk phase materials this allowed the industry to focus on contaminant absorption within the internal structure of the material. This breakthrough provided several benefits: Total chloride removal. Our total chloride removal systems are the only absorbents capable of removing 100% of HCl and RCl. Elimination of leaching risk. No matter what is done to the material while online, CLS Industrial Purification zeolites will not leach out Cl. Steaming is now a feasible means of clearing the vessel for discharge. There is no longer a need to use hot nitrogen. Non-hazardous waste disposal.
